Accepted Programs
We accept files created in the following programs:
- Quark XPress
- Adobe Pagemaker
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- Macromedia Freehand.
If you are using another professional graphic design program such
as Corel Draw you can export or save the file into one off the accepted
file formats.
Adobe Photoshop:
- Files should be created at 300 dpi and in CMYK color. Failure
to do so may result in pixilation or muddy color.
- Flatten your artwork (From the toolbar on the top of your screen
select Image > Flatten Image).
- Increasing the resolution once a file has been flattened will
not improve the clarity of the image.
- Files should be saved in 'Photoshop EPS' format.
- After entering the file name and its destination on the hard
drive, click 'Save'. You will be asked to make two other selections.
For the preview, please select 'Tiff (8bits/pixel)'. For the encoding
option, select 'JPEG - Maximum Quality'.
Illustrator/Freehand:
After finalizing the setup of the file, convert all of the fonts
to paths/outlines. Use the 'Edit' menu to 'Select All'. Under the
'Type' menu, select 'Create Outlines'
Embed all images in the document. In the 'Links' palette, select
each individual image and select 'Embed image' from the links palette
drop down menu. By completing these two steps, there will be no
need for fonts or images to accompany your digital files.
Export/save the file as an Illustrator/Freehand EPS. Make sure
that the file is saved in CMYK
Please send us a proof when submitting your files.
NOTE: We strongly urge you not to use any of the new special
effect features of Adobe Illustrator 9.0 as these features are not
compatible with many of the industry's print production equipment.
This features includes transparencies and any other feature that
is achieved by using the effects menu. We will not be responsible
if you do not follow these instructions and your digital files print
out with jagged or pixilated lines.
Quark/Pagemaker:
- All placed images and colors used in the program should be in
CMYK (including spot, pantone and RGB colors).
- All placed images must be updated or must have the same file
names as the usage links.
- Include all fonts (bitmap and printer fonts) and images with
your digital files.
- Make sure to send a proof when submitting your files. Note:
If you are familiar with Acrobat Distiller, please send your file(s)
in PDF format. The PDF format can be very helpful in sending files
for printing if the process of distilling a file is understood.
